Due to the manual labor required, modeling 3D buildings and City models has been a very expensive and time consuming process. Traditional photogrammetric methods have been providing detailed models that meet the requirements of several applications but the widespread use has been limited due to their high cost and long production cycle. On the other hand City Models designed for the mass market have limited level of detail and poor overall quality that limit significantly their usefulness for a wide range of applications.
